Georgia is one of the old-fashioned wine regions in the world. For 8,000 years, this wine region has been cultivating grapes exceptionally for wine production.

Alexandroouli grapes

Alexandroouli is one of the grape varieties grown and nourished in Georgia. It is rare yet highly-promising variety used for producing violet, scented and semi – sweet wines.

This grape variety is known under various synonyms such as Aleksandroouly, Aleksandrouli, Aleksandrouli Shavi, Alexandreouli, Alexandroouli, Alexandrouli, Kabistona, and Kabistoni.

Origin

Alexandroouli or Aleksandrouli originally came from the Racha – Lechkhumi region in the northwestern part of Georgia.

Based from the genetic studies, Alexandroouli is not the black version of Kapistoni Tetri even though it is also known as Kabistoni.

Characteristics of Alexandroouli

Vines of Alexandroouli are mid sprouting and ripen late. Normally, Alexandroouli are harvested late. Their berries preserve good levels of acidity but have high levels of sugar.
