Naturally, there are some grape varieties that are unclear in terms of origin. Argant is a historical red wine grape variety which came possibly from Germany.
It is said that Argant is a surviving variety originated in Spain and was introduced to eastern part of France by the Romans.
Although little of it is left today, this grape variety was concisely popular. Argant is generally common to southwestern Germany and Austria under the name Gänsfüsser.
Argant is famously called as Gänsfüsser, which means “goose feet” referring to the variety’s shape of leaves.
From the other suggested name Espagnol, culture says that Argant is from Spain. This grape variety is included in the list of 14 varieties suggested for winemaking in the Jura in the year 1774.
The plantings of Argant were extended for more than a century but were not comprehensive and this fact was the decline since then.
I have been online since it all began, with blogging and creating websites. Drinking wine, and writing about them, are one of my passions. Remember to drink responsibly 🙂
