Origin

This white wine grape variety is said to have found its origin in Germany. To be more particular, this grape variety was originated in Oberrhein.

The earliest document of this variety was made in the year 1435 in Russelsheim. Rhineriesling entertains a very long history and there are various other references to this variety that dates back from the 15th century.

Other references of this white wine grape variety have been made in different references following the year 1453, 1552 and many others.

Characteristics

The leaves of this white wine grape variety are medium-sized in terms of their shape and their leaves are circular as to their shape.

The vines comprise of five lobes with a coarse surface. These vines are very hairy underside. The cluster of grapes is small but dense, these clusters are cylindrical.

These clusters are shouldered with usually no wings. The color of grapes is yellowish-green with scars.

Characteristics of Rheinriesling Wine

The wines produced out of this white wine grape variety are charming and full flavor. They develop themselves into great as well as complex wines when they age themselves very well.

There are notes of stone fruit along with peach, apricot and other exotic fruits. The wines produced out of this white wine grape variety are considered as very high in terms and as they start to age, they start tasting richer similar to rose-like scent.

This white wine grape variety can produce the wines that are dark, sparkling, sweet as well as semi-sweet. These grapes are mostly prepared varietal wines.

Food pairing

All the wines produced out of this white wine grape variety are best paired with the food items like cheese, smoked vegetables and desserts like brownie, custard and many others.
