Tamaioasa Romaneasca is considered as a famous variety of white wine grape that is mostly concerned with the production as well as preparation of one of the most aromatic wines of the world.

The Budureasca Valley is considered as one of the multi-millenary lands where the plantation and cultivation of this white wine grape variety has been prevailing since the very ancient times.

The vineyards of this region are located on the sunny hills of the Sub-Carpathian foothills right near the Ploesti, in the very middle of the vineyard of Dealu Mare.

The archaeological proofs as well as survey has noted that this particular region entertain a rich tradition and culture of cultivating the vines of this white wine grape variety and this Romanian grape has been planted in this region since the beginning with the Dacian ancestors.

The vines of this red wine grape variety show all their favorable characteristics in this local climate as well as the soil conditions.

The content of limestone present in the soil of this region, let the vines of this white wine grape variety exhibit all its properties and therefore provides it with an ideal condition of the growth and development of the grapes.

These grapes are greenish-yellow as to their appearance and so are the wines prepared out of them.

Origin

The origin of this white wine grape variety is considered to be very much disputed as a number of studies have claimed different stories as to the discovery and origin of this grape.

This grape variety is considered to be a native grape to the regions of Romania. In France, it is referred to as Muscat Frontignan Blanc and in the regions of Bulgaria is called as Tamianca.

It is considered that the white wine grape variety is originally a native to the region of old Elada and later on it spread itself to different other regions of Eastern as well as Western Europe.

On the very other hand, certain studies reveal that this white wine grape variety was brought to the region of Dacia by the Romans about some 2,000 years ago.

It was brought down here from the sunny south of the Hellas and later it adapted itself perfectly to the climatic conditions of this particular region.

Thus, after all these changes, this white wine grape variety was turned into Tamaioasa Romaneasca.

Characteristics

The wines produced out of this white wine grape variety are considered to be full of amazing characteristics.

The grapes of this variety are rich as to their flavor and they also comprise of terpenic alcohol in them.

The wines produced out of this white wine grape variety could be easily recognized because it entertains a very strong as well as characteristic flavor and aroma.

In the younger state, all the characteristics of these wines are not exhibited so properly and therefore these wines are consumed best when they are matured fully.

These wines entertain a long taste as well as aroma. During their aging, their flavor shifts to the flavors of honeycomb and they start tasting like honey.

These wines are the sweet wines. Apart from being paired with the desserts, these wines themselves are sipped in a substitute of dessert.

Food pairing

All the wines produced out of this white wine grape variety are paired best with the food items such as sausages of Plescoi and Oltenia, smoked cheese as well as Sibiu salami.
