Turan grapes

Hungary is considered as one such region, which has always been very famous for the production of some of the most delicious and flavorsome wines of the world.


In fact, the wines produced and prepared in this city are very much exported to other regions and countries as well where these wines are highly enjoyed by the people at large.

Turan is a dark-skinned variety of red wine grape that hails from the region of Hungary. Apart from Hungary, this red wine grape variety has very successfully paved its way across the areas of Atlantic region as well as North America.

In these particular regions, this variety of red wine grape is termed and addressed as Agria. This red wine grape variety is the result of the crossing that was once performed in between a number of obscure grape varieties of Hungary in order to turn towards the creation of a grape which is deeply pigmented and fleshy.

The plantation and cultivation of this red wine grape variety are widely carried out in various regions of Eastern Europe as well as Hungary.

This red wine grape variety is mainly used as a color-enhancing component that is used to enhance the color of all the wines blended along with this grape variety.

This red wine grape variety is most commonly blended with the grape varieties called Blauburgunder and Kakfrankos along with an iconic variety called Kadarka.

When blended with Kadarka, this red wine grape variety tends to form a very pivotal part of EgriBikavar’s Bull’s Blood respectively.

Apart from the regions of Hungary, the plantation and cultivation of this red wine grape variety are also carried out at large in the regions of Atlantica as well as in British Columbia, where the plantation of this red wine grape variety is found in various small quantities.

At the same time, this red wine grape variety is found in the United States, particularly in the states of Washington and Oregon. In these regions, the popularity of this red wine grape variety is constantly meeting a success.

This red wine grape variety is believed to have originated from the regions of Hungary. However, the exact whereabouts and origin of this red wine grape variety have still not been recorded by the ampelographers.


This red wine grape variety is considered to be a very early ripening variety of grape and the berries of this grape appear bluish as to their color.

These grapes come with a lot of juiciness and therefore the wines produced out of them are regarded to be very juicy wines.

These grapes are able to produce the excellent red juices as well as wines that are highly delicious as to their flavors.

The wines produced out of this red wine grape variety are considered to be fresh and aromatic as to their appearance and fragrance.

These wines are best served when chilled. The levels of tannins as well as acidity present in the wines of this red wine grape variety are decent.

The grapes because of their quality of high pigments are used to provide color to the sober wines. The wines produced out of this red wine grape variety are tasteful, flavorsome and very much fascinating as to their appearance.

Food pairing

All the wines produced out of this red wine grape variety are best paired when they are served with the food items such as Hungarian goulash, smoked vegetables with a lemon coriander dressing as well as potato wedges dipped in tomato sauce.
