Barcelona – everyone knows this as the second most populous city in Spain!

Well, this is also the capital city of the Catalonia, an important wine region of the country.

It is to be noted that Barcelona is not a wine region by itself, although a part of the Penedès wine region is lying in Barcelona.

Yes, this is the reason why I gave the title as vineyards near Barcelona and not vineyards in Barcelona.

This is the closest vineyard from Barcelona and is located at just two-kilometer distance from the Mediterranean Sea between the Alella and Tiana towns.

This vineyard is more popular for its organic farming and we could find the Alta Alella’s organic wines in the menus of the world’s best restaurants.

The wines from this winery belong to two different appellations: D.O. Alella and D.O. Cava.

Bouquet d’Alella Vineyard

This is a family-owned vineyard, which is currently has four major varieties in addition to a few limited versions and a sweet wine variety.

This vineyard is known to be the youngest winery in the D.O. Alella and was started in the year 2010.

Located at just 15-kilometer distance from Barcelona, this wine is famous producing high-quality organic wines. Following are the wines produced by this winery from the locally grown grape varieties:

  • Bouquet d’A Blanc 2015 made from Pansa Blanca and White Grenache
  • Bouquet d’A Blanc+ 2014 made from Pansa Blanca and White Grenache
  • Bouquet d’A Syrah 2013 made from Syrah
  • Bouquet d’A Garnatxa negra 2015 made from Garnacha tinta
  • Bouquet d’A Pur Dolç 2012 made from White Grenache
  • Bouquet d’A Plaer escumós 2013 made from Pansa Blanca and Chardonnay

Castillo Perelada Vineyard

The wine is being produced in this vineyard right from the middle ages.

It would just take a 90-minute drive from downtown Barcelona to reach this wonderful vineyard, which is producing the wine grapes with a broad range of nuances.

The major wines that are produced by this vineyard are coming under D.O. Empordà’ and ‘D.O. Cava. At present, this vineyard is in the third generation of winemaking and has gained the worldwide popularity for its wines.
